Auroville

At my school there is a thing that happens.  We call it interim.  It is when everyone leaves and takes a great trip run by the school to thousands of places.  As I do with everything, I had tons of thoughts running through my head when I came back...

Interim was similar to what I expected but at the same time, it was something totally new and exciting.  The smells of South India consist basically of human waste, cattle, garbage, and thick priest incenses burning from the thousands of temples.  Auroville was an oasis in a desert landscape of the mind and body.  Ironically, that was all Auroville was about forty years ago.  Everything changed when the person they call the ‘Mother’ had a dream.  She dreamt that there was a place on Earth where color, creed, language, or religion did not matter.  All that mattered was human existence, all together in one body and mind.  Peace and hope thrives and life flourishes to aid the Earth, not destroy it through pollution.  She dreamed that the world would unite itself around this small area and become one consciousness.  With the support of fellow believers, she built the ‘country’ of Auroville.  They claim to be their own nation but are a part of Southern India.  There, many people reside, all hoping to live up to the Mother’s idealism.  She passed away about twenty years ago but not before she saw her nation’s dream completed.
Auroville was the golden prize at the end of a long and dirt road from the cheap hotel in Trichy.  After about five hours of a cramped bus ride, everyone was just happy to be going somewhere.  Mr Bisset, the lead teacher, also my World History teacher, kept telling us that there was only a half hour left in the bus.  Well, that was at around the one-hour point.
Five long hours later, we arrive in Auroville.  The crowded bus ride felt like a prison and we were caged birds, waiting to fly free once hitting dry land.  Although, this land was red clay in the form of condensed dust, the trees were caked in its thick and heavy layers, coating them in a red paste.  Your nose seemed to stiffen at the sight of it, alerting your senses to stay away in fear of getting caught up in it too.  We trudged to our sleeping areas through the darkness of night.  Only when morning came when i realized how alien things appear when shrouded in darkness.  What looked like a thick, jungle infested campsite, were actually tolerable huts with a main dining area in the middle.  How my heart jumped for joy upon waking to the smells of joopy rice and thick sauce for breakfast, while my stomach flopped disappointedly.

Besides from the breakfast, the tea was liquid silver as it ran down my throat.  It washed away all the bland taste of the gloopy rice and the thunderous spices in the sauce.  It was something in a desert of spice and dehydrating, bland, pale paste over the rice.  I drank about four to seven cups per morning, as much as I could.  The place we stayed only served it around breakfast time so I made the most of it.  It was a type of milk tea, which had no sugar.  It was healthy and strong, waking you right up from sleep’s tantalizing comforts.

Overall, Interim in Auroville was something I hope to never forget.  The new friends I have made and the great times I shared with them are truly great treasures.  Thank you Auroville and SAS for giving us another great trip!

Issue - 2014

Hello Dear readers.  Today I have decided to talk about one of the big issues today, mainly in the United States.  Well, when I say that, there could be tons of ideas popping into your heads.  The US has been through so much so naturally there are going to be a lot of issues that will indeed come up.  Although, this one directly effects us.  I live in Singapore right now and well, this issue might not completely effect me.  This issue is the phone tapping and data collections that NASA and (perhaps) the CIA/ FBI have been doing to the citizens of the United States.  There have been other accounts of the US tapping into other countries' congressmen/women's phones too!  (Germany...)

This is a big problem.  Tell me in the comments below whether the US should stop this madness or not?  What do you all think about this situation?  Thanks followers.  Don't forget to click the subscribe button at the bottom and check out the reader's poll.  Tell me what you're interested in and what I should write about next.  :)

To: My Birth Mother. From: You Daughter, Elena Morey (Fransuzava)

Well, you readers have asked me to make a memoir to someone that has influences my life.  Well, I thought I should start at the beginning of me.  Now, some people may look up to their father or other relative more than their mother but I think that your mother should receive most of the credit.  Of course I know that it takes 50% of the DNA from you father and then 50% of DNA from you mother but seriously!!!!?????  Your mother carries you for 9 freaking months!!!  9 MONTHS!!!!!!!!  Imagine if humans were more like seahorses.  The males carry the foetus for a few months (I'm not sure how long exactly) as the mother would in an external pouch.  If males did that, than I think we could equally share the respect levels for our parents.  Sometimes in this situation, the male could just impregnate the female and then step out of her life, leaving her with his child.  That is (in my opinion) I give the female most of the credit and respect for the child's birth and such.  Moms will always have a special place in my heart.

This is about my mother.  My birth mother, whom I have never known or seen.  I have never had the privilege to hold her tight and call her mine.  I bet she could not as well for I was left in the hospital.  Thankfully she left her name and other such paperwork behind for me to perhaps find her one day, which I will!  I will know my mother one day and hug her.  I will hug her tight and tell her I will never let her go again...  I will make that promise to her because I believe that it must be kept this time.

Some may ask me how she has influenced me even though I have never met her or seen her.  But, I feel that the clues are in me.  I feel that not only am I 50% like her genetically but also perhaps mentally.  Being raised by someone else as my parents does influence me but I still strongly hold onto the belief that I have some of my mother in me, as well as my father.  I feel that they have been the invisible influence in my soul, mending me where I could never be healed.  To this day, not a slight minute goes by when I do not wonder or ponder the existence of my birth parents, especially my mother.  From what I know about myself, I believe that my mother is smart or educated.  She might be also physically strong or my father was the athletic one.  My mother then would be artsy and a musician.  My mother now has also wondered with me about what kind of people they would be...

Now I am not trying to defend them or make up good things about them to make myself feel better.  I really think that they were somewhat like this because of the way I am today.  There are some scientifically proved attributes, physically and mentally that I have inherited from them.  Here are some of them.  :P
  • my small and strangely shaped feet
  • my eye-hand coordination
  • double jointed abilities throughout my body
  • heightened nerve connections through my body which I can manipulate and control with ease (only some things - eyebrow tricks, toe curling and such...)
  • my artistic talents (music, visual art, drama)
  • my love for people and animals
  • my eyes and their unique shape
  • my strange hair.  ^.^
  • love for anime and manga
  • love for people and philosophy
  • intrest in science and medical biology
  • religious mind and body
And most importantly, my passion for life.

If my birth mother happens to be reading this, I want to thank you for giving me life and giving me initiative to please and perhaps one day, find you.  Tons of love,
Elena.

Halloween Horror Nights 3 (2013) at Universal Studios Singapore

Hello folks.  I heard about this amazing event from a friend in August.  I really am into Halloween and this year I really went all out.  I am still washing all the blood off me and around the house.  :P  The fur also is difficult to clean up and stuff.  The kuni knife has dirt and blood on it and hopefully it will come off with time.  :)  anyway...  I went to the Horror Night here in Singapore at Universal Studios and I was terrified upon entering.  Although I love Vampires, Werewolves, Magic, and all other sorts of horror (besides puppets and dolls...) so when I go there (after months of research and video watching) I started to enjoy myself.  It was the best time of my life so far...  The first scare zone was called Attack of the Vampires and it was set in around the 16 - 18 hundreds and there were vampires and then victims.  The town was actually set up quite well.  There was blood everywhere and I was greeted by a pale old man...
The Old Man In the Front of Attack of the Vampires
This was amazing for me to see because it got me into the right mood and so forth.  It made me feel so welcome into the Attack of the Vampires.

Outside the Mummy

Steampunk Demon

The Tree of Death
And I am very happy to have spend the majority of my time there.  It was not meant to be as scary as all the other scare zones but I think it pulled scary off well still.  :)  Renaldo there (made up a name.  :P heheheee) I think was the best because he had a character developed.  Whenever I went up to talk to him he would always make me laugh.  He remained in Character the whole time and really enjoyed what he was doing.  He made my friend I went with, Charlie laugh too.  He is more into magic and that sort of stuff than me and he found some 'friends' there.  :P

Now there was one more scare zone but my friend, who was sort of nervous too refused at first to go into it.  He was scared and so was I of the Asian side of Horror.  I dragged him through the whole thing holding his hand and I found it amazing.  The horror was personally quite funny.  One scare actor was just wrapped in a body back and had his head and feet wrapped up in it but sticking out of the end.  He had this funny expression of randomness and just looked funny.  He made me smile.  Because Asian horror is most commonly the scariest of them all, there were not nearly as many scare actors there because people are more afraid of that.  Instead there were two haunted houses, House of Possessions and Songs of Death.  The theme of this year was the Three Sisters, the Hag of the Woods, the Undead, and the Phantom-ess of the Opera.  The scare zones were after them and Songs of Death was for the Phantom.  The House of Possessions was for the Hag and Adrift was just on its own.  The Attack of the Vampires was more for the Undead sister.

I couldn't take any pictures sadly about the Asian horror because someone was holding my hand the whole time and I didn't want to jump and drop the phone when I got startled.  Lolz.  XD

The Adrift house was about a haunted ship that went 'adrift' around the 1600s and finally came up to shore.  The crew are half dead or ghost and you have to get off the ship before you become one  of them...  It was interesting because they did a good job establishing it was a sunken ship.  The first part was with things coming up out of the water at you and the next parts where as you got higher up on the ship.  The scare actors inside were superb.  They could get up close to you and speak to u in character.  The thing that scared me the most was in two situations.  One was early on in the house when there were two scare actors on either side of me.  One was a half dead bartender and the other was some sort of waiter.

The whole experience was quite amazing.  Next year, because I am into drama and the arts, I am going to try out to become a scare actor.  Wish me luck all and don't forget to leave a comment.  Tell me about your Halloween experiences and I'll keep you posted about if I make it or not.  :)

Curved Memories

Curve.  It makes me think of playing baseball with my dad.  I used to play when I was younger and still enjoy it.  I would go outside and play the game with him on the street or the backyard.  Even though we both knew that I wouldn’t really be able to play the sport when I got older competitively, we played on.  He taught me everything he knows about the game and showed me the proper technique to play well.

One day he came home from work a little late and with a big smile on his face.  He had something small and brown wrapped in a plastic Wal-Mart bag.  He uncovered it and handed me a small baseball mitt with my name on it.  I smiled and beamed with joy.  My mother behind me chuckled and gave me a hug.  Dad grabbed his mitt and ran outside with a baseball.  We played all the way until dinner time and had to go it.

Whenever I go back to my old house in America, I always go back and look at our old quoldisack; or as the kids on the block knew it, the Baseball Park.  We used to play games there, right outside Lynn and Joe’s house, the older couple that lived in a nice house with a beautiful garden.  My family became very good friends with them and so did all the kids.  Since their kids were all grown up and moved away, they missed having little kids around.  They treated all the kids that would stop by for lemonade and cookies like their grandchildren.  I love them and I am always so happy to go back and see them.  Anyway, they would tend the garden and watch us play.

Not many of the other kids were my age so I only had a few friends.  One of them, who was exactly my age lived across the road.  She was sweet and cute.  We were together since we were little babies and as our parents became good friends, so did we.  We would sometimes play with my Dad out on the street although it did have a slight down-hill curve to it.  Nothing mattered to me and her for we were together and having tons of fun.

Now when I return home, to that curved street, all I can think about are the people who stood here with me; Lynn and Joe, my neighbourhood friends, my relatives, my parent’s friends, dogs and cats, the people who lived on the opposite side of the road, Margaret, my Father, my Mother, my little sister, and me, most of us no longer there.  Margaret moved away to a bigger house to accommodate all her siblings (they are so cute!!).  Lynn and Joe are moving away too and he dogs and cats no longer go out to play with us.  Old memories will we never forget, on that curved, concreted black street world.

The Movie Review - Of Mice Of Men

I saw the move Of Mice Of Men and it really struck me because before that I had read the book in class.  Together we discussed the purpose of the film and what was like the book and what was not.  I really enjoyed the movie because as films always do, it drew me closer to the people I had been reading about.  I saw them in flesh and felt more attached to who they were.  When I re-read them in the book, I feel as though I know them more personally and we have a special connection.  :)

The movie really brought some things into clarity for me because the only two parts that I was confused about.  The first part that I was confused about was how Candy was involved in Lenny and George’s dream.  In the book, the dialogue and how that portrayed confused me and I didn’t really understand but in the film, the dialogue was a little simpler and the people there saying it makes it easier for me to visually portray it.  Also, when Lenny killed Curly’s wife.  In the book, I could barely visualize it because it happened so fast.  In the film, there was a deep visual aspect that allowed me to connect back to the book and see it actually happen based on the book’s dialogue and word choice.

Through the film, overall, it captured the spirit of the book and the main themes.  The strong bond between Lenny and George was portrayed beautifully because not only could the audience visually see the chemistry, there was also a good aspect of subtle humor between the two and family love.  Through the film, it actually showed and got into more depth about their relationship.  In the book, you just read about them always being together and looking out for one another but when Lenny was in Crook’s room, he defended Lenny with a fierceness in his eyes.  Also when Lenny was getting beaten up by Curly, George really had this helpless look in his eyes of hate and the need to go and help his friend.  Also, how the two moved brought to life their bond.

Sometimes in a film, the audience cannot understand the theme as well as they could if they read the book.  In other films, it is the other way around.  This film seemed to nicely balance the two.  One could still go see the film but then want to read the book after.  Some of the very physical scenes, in my opinion, were portrayed better in the film than the book and certainly the ending was more impactful in the book.
