The Joys of Face Painting

I have recently (a few months ago) found the love of body art or face-painting (I prefer calling it body art cause it sounds way cooler).

This is a special type of art and requires a lot of understanding of human anatomy and use of paints.

So, I did a face-painting booth at the Singapore Zoo and realized that it was more fun than on a canvas.  Yes, a canvas lasts for a longer time, but the movement of the brush on skin and the contrasting colors of flesh is always more appealing (in my opinion).

So, I was waiting calmly for people to walk by my booth but in the morning at around 9am, no one was there.  So, I did what any other artist would do and start painting.

One of my first pieces was very complex and difficult (personally).  I had a very small range of grays and colors so this took me much longer than I expected (about 1hour total).

The next piece was commissioned by one of the other face-painters working the booth with me.  She liked tigers and carnivorous animals so I painted a tiger paw on her hand.  It took me about 20 min.

One of the last pieces I did was Scar from the Lion King.  I personally love this villain because of his unique approach to creating conflict.

The last piece of the day was this simple zebra.  It took me about 15 min and was a contrast between human flesh and animal fur.  This girl who I painted it on is a fan of zebras who also was working at the zoo the same day.  Both the pieces I did seemed to advertise the face-painter's abilities and drew people to our booth.

Before the day was over, I signed my pieces and sent the girls home with a hug.

There was one piece I did which covered the girl's face who requested the zebra.  I used protected face-paint but do not have her consent to post the photo online.  Thus, just imagine it.  :D

Tell me what you all think of my new-found style of art and hope that I can get my hands on some actual face-paint to extend my new form of art.
